US OPEN - RULES

SOLOS

•  Each solo must include the following capoeira movements:
•  Ginga, especially in transitional phases
•  Meia lua de compasso
•  Armada
•  Macaquinho

Judging format

The judges will determine the numeric score of each solo based on the following criteria;

•  Technique - indicates the efficiency, balance, power, and control of a player's movements.
•  Transitioning - indicates the player's ability to move throughout his/her sequence with continuity and rhythm.
•  Difficulty - indicates the level of skill required to execute the movements in a sequence.
•  Originality - indicates a player's ability to be creative and incorporate unorthodox movements into his/her sequence.
•  Each player will perform twice .
•  Players will be given a score from 1-5 for each criterion, for each round: one being the lowest, five being the highest. The final score will be the sum of both rounds.
•  Time: In the Teen and Adult categories each player will have up to 1 minute to perform his/her solo in a São Bento Regional rhythm.

*The player doesn't have to perform for the whole minute. The LIMIT is 1 minute.

In the Chidren's category each player will have up to 45 seconds to perform his/her solo in a São Bento Grande de Angola rhythm.
